Poacher's Cabin
From the owner:
Whilst holidaying in Dordogne, TV presenter Kate Humble and her husband Ludo fell in love with our off-grid creations, and like many who've seen Fisherman's Cabin, they wished for one of their own just like it. By a wild coincidence, we knew of a sorely neglected cabin on its own lake, for sale, not too far away. A deal was struck, and a year or so later, the cabin has been transformed into a beautiful off-grid bolt hole for two, as creative and comfortable as it is stylish.
Inside, the cabin is a rustic triumph, from the planed kitchen work surfaces to the authentically gnarley door frames which are all hand-cut from reclaimed timber. What's more, Bob knew all the trees used personally! There's a simple shower wet room (water is heated by the woodburner) a composting loo and solar-powered lights. A tea-light chandelier is made from twinkly glass yoghurt pots, and bird books in the library reflect Kate's interests. Outside, there's a splendid deck overlooking the lake, a raft, 'Poacher',for paddling about on the lake, BBQ and bikes. The cabin is equipped in true covertcabin style with a bottle of wine and some cold beers, tea, coffee etc, shop-in-a box, maps, compass and walking sticks, art stuff, games and lots, lots more!
