A: If the generator has been in your possession for quite a while. there’s a possibility that it’ll be hard to start. Before calling our service for help, try these procedures first:

A: There are two types of engine oil. For gasoline generators, use SAE-30 or multigrade 5W-30W. For diesel generators use SAE-40.

A: For diesel engine generators, use diesel. For gasoline generators, use unleaded gasoline. USING THE WRONG FUEL WILL DAMAGE YOUR GENERATOR.

A: The generator you purchased should always be shut down when it’s refueling, during some checkings, and oil addition.

A: No, you cannot. You must have the generator run before a load is applied to it. Moreover, remove the load before you shut it down. Tampering with the engine speed is not allowed since the RPM.s are factory set.
Q: How often do I need to have my generator running?
A: It is highly recommended that your generator should undergo a test run once a month together with a 30% load.
Q: Where should I keep my generator when I am not using it?
A: The best place to keep your generators in is within a clean and dry place that is well ventilated and is away from flames or sparks.
Q: How can I maintain my generator if it is powered by diesel?
A: Maintaining diesel operated generators are more tedious than generators which are run by gasoline. Here are the different procedures in maintaining diesel-powered generators:
A. Daily Measures
Check the genset for loose parts; signs of corrosion on parts, traces, and dust build up. Make sure the coolant heater is securely in place and inspect it for signs of wear Check the oil level and add oil if necessary Make sure that the charge-air piping is connected securely to the radiator and inspect it for signs of wear.
B. Weekly Measures
Check the air cleaner for debris and clean it if necessary. Check the float voltage reading on the battery charger and adjust the voltage as necessary. Drain the water from the bottom of the fuel filter housing. Drain the water from the bottom of the fuel tank until the diesel fuel appears.
C. Monthly Measures
Take a sample of the coolant with hydrometer and check its concentration by referring to the service manual from the manufacturer Check the belt for proper tension and inspect it for signs of wear Drain the condensate from the condensate trap. Check the charge on the starting battery and examine the connections for looseness and corrosion.
D. Semiannual Measures
Replace the oil and oil filter, regardless of whether the genset has been used in a non-simulated power outage. Replace the coolant filter, regardless of whether the genset has been used in a non-simulated power outage. Clean the crankcase breather according to the service manual from the manufacturer. Replace the air cleaner element, regardless of the level of debris accumulation Check the connection of the radiator hoses and inspect for signs of wear.
